Quail Hollow Gardens is a dream come true. I’ve been fascinated by Japanese Maples since 1981 when my landscaper planted one of these beautiful trees in my Auburn, Alabama yard. The large green multitrunk seedling he brought in was the most gorgeous tree I had ever seen.

The characteristics of Japanese Maples and their numerous varieties have enhanced my life as I studied and lived with them. Their ancient history alone is fascinating. Over the years I have dug and moved many Japanese Maples (some over 50 years old), planted every cultivar I could get my hands on, and loved every single one. Each Japanese Maple has its own personality and I look forward to watching spring’s new growth, enjoying summer’s true colors, admiring fall’s deep yellows, reds, golds, and oranges, and appreciating winter’s view of spectacular limb structure. Everyone needs at least one of these trees in their yard to enjoy.

At Quail Hollow Gardens, developed on acreage at Crooked Oaks (www.crookedoaks.com), a 250-yard water feature flows through acres of cedars, pines, oaks, poplars and bay trees. The over-story of evergreens and hardwoods, along with pools and waterfalls, creates a perfect setting for more than sixty varieties of Japanese Maples. In this beautiful environment each tree has the best possible opportunity to grow, thrive and develop into its unique personality.

Our specimen Japanese Maples are planted in grow-bags and placed so they can be easily moved. The greenhouse and nursery provide many choices if you are looking for younger trees.
